How to use the house construction budget calculator ?
By entering the required fields into the calculator and hitting the “Calculate Budget” button. You will get total cost to build your home and the cost break up.
Then Enter the miscellaneous percentage and hit the “Add Miscellaneous” button. You will get your house construction budget including a miscellaneous amount.
If you think you don’t need a particular service in the calculator leave the field empty. Like if you don’t need interior, sump and overhead tank. Leave those fields empty while calculating the budget.

Requirements to use the house construction budget calculator
To find the budget using this calculator, you need to know the requirements.
Let me first list the requirements needed to calculate the budget and explain each with examples of my own experience.

Land
- Land area in sq ft
- Land cost per sq ft
Example:
I bought land. Its 60 feet length and 40 feet width.
By multiplying length and width(60×40), the area of land is 2400 square feet.
The cost of the land is 2000 rupees per square feet.
Approval
- The cost of approval drawings
- If any commissions to be given
Example:
The approval drawing cost is ₹15,000.
For approval it took ₹1,10,000 Lakh including the commission.
So for approval it cost 15000+110000 = ₹125000.
EB
- The temporary connection cost
- If any commissions to be given
- If no EB line near the land new post required, its cost
Example:
EB connection cost including commission is ₹7,000.
After house completion for tariff change is ₹5000.
So for EB it cost 7000+5000 = ₹12,000.
Borewell
- Depth required for bore in your land location
- Cost of bore in per feet including materials required
Example:
The depth of bore required in my area is 200 feet. But in my land I requested to bore up to 220 feet.
The bore cost per feet is 80 rupees.
House Construction
- Built-up area in sq ft
- Cost of the house construction in rupees per sq ft
Example:
As I want to build a 3BHK house it took 2000 square feet for my requirements.
The construction cost per sq ft to build the home is 2200 rupees per sq ft.

Interior
- TV and pooja unit cost
- Modular kitchen cost
- Cupboards cost in all rooms
- False ceiling cost for required areas
Example:
For the interior I had 7,00,000 rupees. With that amount I planned for a cupboard in all rooms, TV unit, modular kitchen and false ceiling in the hall.
Compound wall
First you need to decide whether you are going to construct a compound wall using bricks, beams & columns or using ready made compound walls.
Example:
For the compound, I planned readymade compound walls on all sides other than the front side. For the front side, a compound wall is constructed. The compound wall height is 5 feet on all sides.
Compound wall using bricks, beams & columns
- The length of the compound wall in feet
- Cost of compound wall per sq ft
Example:
The front side was 40 feet in length.
The compound wall cost per sq ft is 2000 rupees per sq ft.
Ready made compound wall
- The length of the compound wall in feet
- Cost of compound wall per ft
- Required height of compound wall
Example:
Used readymade compound wall for other three sides(40+60+60)
By adding three sides length, 160 feet.
Ready made compound wall cost per sq ft is 75 rupees.
The height of the compound wall is 5 feet.
Overhead Tank
- Capacity of the tank in liters
- Cost per liter to construct the overhead tank
Example:
Engineer suggested a 2000 liter sintex tank. I requested a 3500 liters capacity constructed tank.
The overhead tank construction cost per liter is 25 rupees.
Septic Tank
- Capacity of the tank in liters
- Cost per liter to construct the septic tank
Example:
A 7000 liter capacity tank is constructed.
The septic tank construction cost per liter is 20 rupees.
Sump
- Capacity of the tank in liters
- Cost per liter to construct the sump tank
Example:
A 4000 liter capacity sump is constructed in parking.
The cost per liter for a sump tank is 25 rupees.
Miscellaneous
- A minimum 5% of the budget. It may help you if you require anything later.
Example:
I had 5% miscellaneous amount from my budget.
This miscellaneous amount helped me in many aspects.
